PTA started campaign against Fraud Calls/ SMSs and Fake Prize Schemes

Don't get trapped in prize and lottery scams, join PTA in the movement against deceptive and fraudulent calls and SMSs. Anonymous calls and SMSs can deprive you of your money. People are deceived and deprived of their hard earned money through fake text messages and phone calls from unknown numbers enticing them with attractive prizes, lotteries and plot or winning any draw.

More so full scale calls and marketing messages from these unwanted numbers irk the customers and snatch their right of privacy. All customers using mobile phones are being informed and alerted through this advertisement that they should not transfer any cash or mobile credit in response to such calls and SMSs from unknown numbers, failing which they themselves will be responsible for any loss accruing from such frauds. If you face such situation, inform the mobile company, FIA and PTA as per the following instructions.

Fake Prize Schemes and Financial Fraud

People often received spamming messages about fake prize schemes e.g.

Benazir Income Support ke taraf se apko Rs.25000 mubarak ho apka yeh number BISP mein Register tha. ap is number per rabita karen.

• Register your complaint at helpline of mobile operator 

           Ufone 333, Zong 310, Warid 321, Mobilink 111, Telenor 345 

• Contact helpline 0800-26477 or FIA (UAN: 111-345-786 or www.fia.gov.pk) to register your complaint in case of BISP (Benazir Income Support Program) fake message.

Unsolicited/ Marketing/ Spamming Calls and SMSs

• To report obnoxious calls and SMS, type sender’s cell number, give a space, type the received message and send it to 9000 e.g. and send it to 9000.
• To block publicity messages, type REG and send it to 3627 to get registration in “Do Not Call Register (DNCR)”. Contact concerned mobile operator if the problem still persists. To allow such messages again write UNREG and send it to 3627.

Obnoxious/ Unknown Calls and SMSs

• Text or dial 420 for required unwanted numbers (for Mobilink, Telenor, Zong or Ufone)
• Text or dial 9211 for required unwanted numbers (for Warid Telecom)

How to find Phone Number from SIM - Zong, Ufone, Mobilink, Telenor, Warid

If you have forgotten your mobile phone number, you can know it from your SIM card very easily. When you have so many SIMs, you cannot remember each and every number. You may have forgotten it for a moment and you need it for mobile load or to share your number with someone. If you don’t know or have forgotten your mobile number, you can identify it from your SIM. Although you can check it by making a missed call to any other available mobile phone but what if you have not balance? Every mobile network provides some short codes or a SMS service for all such cases.

Recently I need to use an old SIM but I haven’t remembered its number. Than one of my friends told me that there are some particular codes for each mobile network to find phone number. When you dial these codes or send message, you will get your phone number.

Below are codes for each of the operators.

How to find phone number from Ufone SIM 

Dial *780*3# and your number will be displayed in a popup window “Your Number is: +923330000000”

Text MYNO TO 120.

How to find phone number from Zong SIM 

1. From your phone, dial *100# and then select 2nd option by writing 2. Enter any other active number on which you can receive SMS. You will get an SMS “Please call me back at 0923130000000” on other number which will show your Zong’s SIM number. 

2. Text MYNO to 777. Rs. 1.50+tax are charged for each message.

Find phone number from Mobilink SIM 

Dial *99# and press call button.

Find your phone number from Telenor SIM 

1. Send a blank SMS to “7421″ and you will get your SIM number on same mobile in a SMS.

2. Send SIM serial number (which can be seen at the back side of each telenor SIM which starts with 0060) to 346 by using another Telenor SIM and you will get the number of that specific SIM via SMS on other SIM.

Know your phone number from Warid SIM 

In SMS write “MYNO” or “MyNumber” and send it to “6060″ or “321″ you will get your mobile number. Rs 2+Tax per SMS will be charged for this service.

Finding Phone Number from an Android Phone

You can also find phone number of Android phones. Go to Settings, About Phone, Status, SIM Status and then My Phone Number.

Finding Phone Number from iPhone

In iPhone, your own phone number appears at the very top of your contacts list.

It can also be found from Settings, Phone and then My Number.

You can not only know your own mobile number but also you can find mobile number of any SIM card.

How to Pay Bills Online with MCB Internet Banking

How to Register a Biller/ Company for Online Bills Payment?

Login to your MCB Internet Banking account at www.mcb.com.pk

Go to Bills Payment, Register Biller, Add New Biller. 

Select your Biller from the drop down list. Enter mobile number for mobile companies (Zong, Ufone, Mobilink, Telenor and Warid) or relevant Consumer Number for other companies e.g. PTCL, SNGPL, PEPCO etc. Enter any nick name for your ease e.g. My Account, My Mobile, My Gas Bill, My Electricity Bill etc.

You may have to confirm any new biller from your registered email.

How to Pay Bills Online?

After login, go to Bills Payment, Pay Bill.

Fill Biller details, select your you name as customer, select a biller from drop down list (list contains all utility companies that you have already registered), select your account.

Enter the amount you want to pay or you may seen the bill amount. Press Pay button. And you will receive confirmation email.

How to know Owner Name of a Mobile Phone Number?

If you are using a SIM card and have forgotten that who is the owner of this mobile number. This might be due to the reason that in early years it was not mandatory to bring the CNIC of the person who is getting it, so the people sometimes use the photocopy of same CNIC or ID Card for issuing many SIM cards. And these SIMs are being used by the family members without knowing that who is the real owner of the SIM card. Now when it is necessary to verify the SIMs by the same person who is using them, people are curious to know the name of the person who own it. 

How to check Owner Name of a SIM?

Send a blank sms to 667 from the particular SIM of any mobile company i.e. Zong, Mobilink, Ufone, Telenor and Warid etc. to know the owner name. If you didn't get any reply by sending blank sms, try by sending MNP to 667.

You will get a reply sms with name and CNIC number of the owner of the SIM card in the below format:

Ownership information of any SIM are confidential, plz don't share information with any irrelevant person.

Service charges are Rs.1.5+tax per sms.

Always keep your mobile phone safe as there is no security mechanism (such as a PIN) to get access to the data, anyone who gets a hold of your phone can get the name and NIC. If you loose your phone then the person who gets your phone can know your name and CNIC number.

Free Check Biometric Re-verification of Zong, Ufone, Mobilink, Telenor, Warid

Once you have verify your mobile numbers through Bio-metric Re-verification process, most probably you will get a confirmation message from your service provider company. In case you didn't get confirmation message or you just want to counter check/ ensure that your SIM ownership has been properly verified, you can check it free of cost simply dialing a code or sending a message and you will get confirmation.

Free Check Biometric Re-verification

Following are simplest ways of all the 05 mobile service provider companies in Pakistan, to check bio-metric re-verification. No charges applies for this service.

How to Check Biometric Re-verification of Zong

Dial *6622# from your Zong number. You will immediately receive confirmation message that "Moaziz Sarif, Apni SIM Biometric vrify karwane ka shukria." You can also get free unlimited calls, 5000 SMS and 500MB data under Zong Biometric Promo.

Another SMS service 7911 has been launched to check re-verification of Zong SIMs. To check the verified numbers by sending “V” to this short-code 7911.

How to Check Biometric Re-verification of Ufone

Dial *336*1# from your Ufone number. Service reply will be "Dear customer your number 033389001xx is verified."

How to Check Biometric Re-verification of Mobilink Jazz

Send your CNIC No. to 6001 from your Mobilink number. You will get following information in SMS:

Total numbers on CNIC 34001-04500xx-1 = 1

Verified = 1

Un-verified = 0

Verified = 03005900xxx

How to Check Biometric Re-verification of Telenor

Send a blank SMS to 7751. You will confirmation message shortly.

How to Check Biometric Re-verification of Warid

Customer can send message (CNIC) to short-code 789 through primary verified number and in return he will get status of numbers against his/her CNIC along with verification stats. Format of this process is sent to primary verified number via SMS.

Last date of SIM Verification through Biometric Process is 13 April, 2015.

To check how many SIMs are registered on your CNIC, Send your CNIC Number (without dashes) to 668 by SMS. (Example ID Card Format 611234544333)
